KIO and Myanmar Govt representative release joint statement

KIO and Myanmar Government representatives meet yesterday February 4 in Ruili, China the first time after the heaviest fightings in Myanmar history taken place. This meeting is very unusual as this meeting is hosted by China's government. This is the first time China hosted and mediated in between ethnic armed groups and Myanmar. Moreover, it is also attended by the leaderships of  armed ethnic groups like KNU, RCSS/SSA and others. Both sides agreed to meet further before the end of February to initiate political dialogue after KIO's consultation with UNFC members. They agreed to create some sort of monitoring mechanisms in conflicted areas in order to end the hostilities speedily.
